Ballistic Sound Clips
You see, I've always been up front with the amount of time I get to
practice these days. With kids, running my martial arts school, and teaching,
I'm lucky to get about 3 hours a week
of practice behind my kit. Yes, A WEEK. I'm blessed to have
stumbled upon Spaced Repetition Learning, Velocity Principles,
Transformational Practicing and other technologies I talk about in my
instructional materials. I also give a ton of credit to my lessons
with Harry Damas, possible one of the greatest "old school" drum
instructors still around.
Now, I'll admit I don't have the chops in my hands that other drummer, who
put in 2-3 hours a day have... but I compensate that with my
obsession over my feet and the use of multiple pedals. Since 1996,
I've revealed powerful breakthroughs, that require very little practice,
that allow you to play patterns with your feet that have never been heard
before. Patterns, when learned, will separate you from the
herd. And with that I present these clips.
Finally, it is my intention that most of the drummers stumbling across my
material live in the real world of full time jobs, family, and
BILLS. Though all our lives are pretty hectic... I can assure you
that there are easier ways to getting GOOD... FAST.
You know, it's one thing to sit in your basement frustrated at your level
of playing... practicing for horrendous hours... hoping to get good... and
quite another when you take the ballistic path of least resistance, see
results happening in weeks, NOT years, and start getting the calls
for gigs.
As long as you have an open mind and a desire to get on the bus... I can
help you.
Enjoy
the clips,

Joe
"Ballistic" Stronsick
PS.
Don't get me wrong. I've been on tour, done clinics, the works.
But at this stage of my life... I've structured it so I'm
with my family as much as possible. They are my priority. In
the upcoming months I'll be releasing more powerful material relating to
studio work, site reading, and how to become an in-demand player that
gigging bands compete to hire. Till then...
|
All
Songs are written and performed by Joe and Lisa Stronsick (an
incredible violinist).
There are no
overdubs when I play...
all drums sounds including woodblocks, congas, etc are
played in real time. I use only stock gibraltar
pedals. No tricks with those those pedals (dualist or big
step) that give you multiple strikes with one step...
Before You
Listen, I realize you may like or play a different style of
music... these clips give a bigger picture in terms of application
of feet than judgment of style.
Clips with Infra Red (talk about fusion and speed) I may post at a
later time. |

Follow the woodblock. Bass Drums
stay in 7 as the woodblock (with foot) starts in 7 then goes into a shuffle
and lead the hands. |

Way Independence Song - Circus Theme
A recent piece with hands in 5, feet
playing a woodblock jazz type pattern, bass drums playing singles
and feet also playing the 48" bass drum in 3. Kinda
strange. |
|
Song -
Resurrection
Hands playing a latin pattern with
cowbell while the feet play woodblock and bass drums. |

Song
- Tribal in 5
This one has a tribal Indian like tom
going on in 3. Added is the bass drums with doubles and
singles. One foot also plays one woodblock in 5 to
compensate the rt hand in 5. The other foot also plays on
lower toned woodblock to hang with the tom in 3. |

African Feel
Just basic independence with
feet. Hands real simple. |
|
Song -
Coming Home
Ending of a very powerful... yet
driving song. A lot of doubles and singles with bass drums
as I use 2 more pedals for the 2 different toned hammers. |

Lesson
on 6 way independence
Song with
above drum part
Mixing pretty bad on this one...
sorry. Again some doubles, singles, flams and multiple
pedals happening. |
|
Latin
drum part
One of my favorite breakthroughs. I
play a standard latin pattern with hands. Feet on bass drums
and also playing the famous conga pattern with my feet. Notice the hi-hat
that's opening and closing also. |

Hybernation
Hybernation - counted
Again 6 way independence - with 2
stacked rhythms. Feet follow each one
separately. Wonderful concept for you to copy.
Same pattern BUT MORE
POWERFUL. applied to orchestra
I decided to take the same pattern from Hybernation and play a
48" bass drum in 9. The hi-hat is still being opened
and closed. |
|
Song -
Maharaja
Simple pattern with rt hand in 9, lt
in 6. Feet on bass drum, sleigh bell, loud bell and
controlling hi-hat. Traveling across the dunes to save a
damsel in distress. |

Jazz Drum Beat 2
Demonstrates feet opening and closing
hi-hat, playing bass drum and controlling woodblock pedal.
My jazz album will be showcasing more of this. |
