It's ego shattering to admit, but I've been there.
Jumped by 4 guys. On my back fighting for my life.
Hope to God you never experience it. Especially on your way to a high paying gig.
But... using one of my nine lives I survived and turned that dreadful event into a gift.
So stick with me here, there's a point I'm making. One that will reveal why getting the snot beat out of me is going
to make you a very talented drummer.
Ok, here we go.
I get emails and calls saying my Ballistic material is just a heel-toe motion.
Listen, when my head was getting kicked in by these 4 baboons, I was using everything I had to defend myself. I was
biting, kicking, screaming and punching! Golly I would have thrown my dog Arbuckle at em'... if he was there.
So my point is, you should be using everything you got to get good at double bass drumming. I'm talking about heel-toe,
ball of the foot, heels down, edges of your feet, toe-only, etc.
Currently I'm using 7 pedals and I use the WHOLE arsenal of motions. Motions that
weren't even talked about or
known till I came around.
Let me put it another way.
Think about being shipped overseas to war.
Would you just want a pocket knife to defend yourself or... do you hope the government gives you a pistol, grenades,
machine gun, etc.
Alright, you get my point. You heard or seen me play.
No way you could do what I do with just a heel-toe motion. So don't limit yourself to just one way.
Every double bass motion has it's place. Most drummers are too lazy to master them all.
Not you... I hope.

PS. My ballistic material has been around since 1996. And yes there are GRADES to my double bass drumming material.
Surely when I take on a new student I don't throw Graduate Level material at him. We start from the beginning and
build from there.
That's why I have different grade levels of Ballistic Material available for you.
From the Basic System all the way up to
the Renegade System. The only thing needed is your desire to
be phenomenal.
